I'm a psychiatrist. I spent sixteen years listening to people's stories behind closed doors. Now I read books the way I read people — for what they're not saying.

About
I've spent my career listening to people tell me their stories — soldiers, veterans, people carrying things they couldn't put down. Somewhere along the way I realized the books on my shelf were doing the same thing my patients do: saying one thing on the surface while the real story runs underneath.
So that's what I do here. I diagnose books. Not the plot — the psychology. The trauma responses the author didn't label. The attachment patterns hiding inside the love story. The case study the writer didn't know they were writing.
